Multi-lingual online Pensions Calculator and Checklist launched by The Pensions Board

Friday 16 March 2007: The Pensions Board, today, launched its multi-lingual online pension calculator and pension’s checklist at a reception in its offices, to mark ‘International Pensions Day’ as part of Pensions Action Week. The online calculator and checklist are now available in the most commonly spoken foreign languages in Ireland which are Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Polish, Russian and are also available in Irish on

The multi-lingual calculator allows you to estimate the amount of money, net of tax which you would need to contribute to your pension, by reference to your age and current yearly salary so that you end up with the level of pension you would expect to receive in retirement. The calculator clearly demonstrates the major benefits of starting a pension as early as possible. The checklist is designed to help you prepare for an adequate income in retirement.

Speaking at the launch, Brendan Kennedy, Chief Executive, Pensions Board said: “Ireland is a different country today than it was ten years ago and has changed for the better in many ways, including our transformation to a multi-cultural society. It is important that pensions information is easily accessible to all of our population. The launch of our pensions calculator and checklist in several different languages today will go some way to encouraging more people to start a pension.”
